German Shepherd who jumped out of moving car on Georgia highway miraculously found and reunited with pawrents after a frantic all day search mission and support from online community, dog mom says: ‘He's got a head bump but he's in the car. He's ok.’

Dogs are incredibly smart, but much like any being on this planet, they too succumb to their intrusive thoughts from time to time, at least that is the case for this story's doggo escapee.

Judging by the reactions to this story posted to Reddit's r/dogs subreddit most dog owners barely bat an eyelid when their pupper sticks their nose out of the window while driving. It is a common occurrence, sometimes done for pleasure, other times done to avoid carsickness, but either way something that many of us have gotten used to seeing.

However, after reading this story we might think twice about letting our darling doggos endanger themselves in this way. For in a split second things went from calm and cool to crazy and chaotic as this story's German Shepherd decided to leap from his pawrents' car and see what is going on around the highways of Georgia. What he found on his short lived trip we do not know, but what we do know is that he was successfully reunited with his family and not a moment too soon.

  • Holy guacamole, that is quite the beginning to a lost dog story. More often than not stories like this are based on a moment when a pawrent had their back turned and their doggo was enticed by something they saw. But travelling at 60mph we cannot imagine that this dog noticed anything in pawticular that would have made it jump, this sounds like a case of intrusive and curious thoughts. And it seems as though they got the better of this pupper. The good news is that without tell tale signs of critical injury there is a good chance that this doggo somehow managed to land smoothly and is on the move trying to find his way home.

  • Unreal, what a turn of events! It must be so scary to be far from home, on your way to a relaxing holiday and then your world is turned upside down. Suddenly you are having to try and make things happen in a place where you do not know the people, you do not know the way things work. But none of them stopped these pawrents who bravely did everything possible to notify the locals that their dog might be out there. And it is clear that all that effort paid off, now all that is left is for these pawrents to finally reunite with their pupper.

    A final UPDATE for anyone out there who maybe wanted the extra details: After two days of no sleep I'm finally the last one awake. We celebrated with pizza because the lady at Ceasers Pizza was extra nice when I was sobbily handing out lost flyers.

    He stinks to god but we'll wash him when he's not so tired. All the vets were closing by the time we could get to them, but s/o is a former emt and took a look at him, checked for concussion, and sanitized the w ds. Nothing

    seems broken, but jojos paws are all c t up and hurt and one of his nails came off. No mountain climbing this week for sure, but with the vets blessing tomorrow, we'll drive him to a lake and relax and have ourselves a good meal before heading home.
